Loved it. It was just as good as the first though like with the first there were lots of parts that just seemed to drag on and felt unnecessary.
I’m excited to read book three but I’m hopeful that the filler is left out of that book.
The character development in these books is amazing and I love watching that unfold.

Loved this story. There were some things like repetitive names that I didn’t care for. Overall this story was beautiful and everyone should read it.
Loved book one. I would have liked to see this plot with the alternate ending rather than this one. But it wasn’t bad.
There was a lot of fluffiness that was unneeded in my opinion. I feel like that should have been used for us to get to know these other characters more. I didn’t feel any of the deaths in this book except one. But I suppose neither did Mare.
Mares thought process is a roller coaster. Overconfident one minute. Underconfident the next. It was exhausting at times honestly.
Overall not a bad sequel.

DNF. don’t get the hype. Sloppy writing. Repetitive. Boring.
Honestly, I enjoyed the book. I enjoyed getting to know the backstory of Leck who is a character from the first book.
My biggest issue comes from the fact that there are a lot of relationships of men with teenage girls. I understand that this was some thing that happened in the past, but this is not something we need to re-create in our fantasy novels. Especially fantasy novels that are marketed as YA. It sends this message that if an older man is interested in a 14 or 15 or 16-year-old girl that it makes them special. This is not a message I’m OK with endorsing.
Other than that, I enjoy the plot and getting to see how this geographic location is different from the one in the first book. There were times where the characters almost felt, copied and pasted from the first book but overall it wasn’t a bad read.

DNF. I don’t think I was in the right headspace for this book. May try again later.
I’m currently reading the entire series so I can arc read the fourth book before it’s release date. I adored this book.
The main character is funny and tenacious and I love that she snubs rules of society. We also get to see a couple tropes flipped on their head. Like the damsel in distress trope is flipped when she is trying to save him.
I cannot wait to see where this series goes. The author does an amazing job at wrapping up the story of book one so you don’t feel like anything is missing while also leaving you wanting for book two.
Lately I’ve been slow to finish books and I finished this in just a couple days. Love it.

I continue to be impressed with this series. The characters are so well done. The plot is very well thought out. The author continues to circle back to things you think are insignificant at first.
