This was such a sweet start (see what I did there *wink wink*) to a cozy mystery series that I can't wait to continue! Kate is a realistic and flawed character and I really enjoyed getting to know her. I loved Sam, and Maxi, and just the whole vibe! Plus there's the cutest dog, Oliver, and I need him in my life immediately. Every single food mentioned in this book had my mouth watering and I want to try every single on, like, yesterday.

The beginning of this book drug quite a bit for me, but it had an explosive ending that had me on the edge of my seat! I can't wait to read the next book because I think we are back to the perspective of Hannah and Liam (along with Noah and Milo) and I need to know how they are doing!!

Major trigger warning for death (children and adults), mass shooting, and violence.

"It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live, remember that."

I listened to the audio and read along on the stunning MinaLima edition of this book and I was completely enamored. This was a fantastic way to ring in the new year. This was only my third time reading this and my goal this year is to read through Harry Potter (I've only read up to book 3) and to watch the movies.

This book made me smile, laugh, and at times, cry. One of the most touching moments for me was
near the end of the book when Hagrid gave Harry the photos of his parents and they were waving in them. The line that got me was "Harry couldn't speak, but Hagrid understood."
. GOODBYE TO MY HEART AND HELLO TO THE TEARS.

I cannot wait to finish out this series and finally be able to understand the magic.
