I wasn’t sure what to expect on reading this and it’s unlike anything I’ve read before. It’s described as prose poetry and that’s probably as the only way to explain this work. If you’re planning to read this, I would recommend a little research on Elizabeth Smart to provide the context. The book provides a very autobiographical and emotive account of Smart’s relationship with a married man and the obsessive, all consuming love she experienced. This won’t be for everyone but if you are intrigued as I was then it’s best to go ahead and just read this.
