⛩Seven deadly shadows is the story where we follow Kira, whose family shrine has been attacked and she must go and protect it from the next attack during the blood moon in a months time.
⛩The Japanese culture in the book is really well researched and the information about folklore definitely piqued my interest in reading this book. But that is kinda it...
The book started of really good and I really enjoyed how the start was written. We get to know the characters we’ll be following.
The characters were people I didn’t really connect with and the dialogue didn’t always made sense to me. This left me a bit confused while reading. The pacing of the character development is a bit like going from 0-100 in seconds while the story pacing is quite slow in comparison. It just didn’t seem to match the stories progress.
The romance was a bit sudden. I knew there was probably gonna be romance but still, like nothing had really happened between the two and than suddenly they were kissing. I was a bit confused by the sudden turn and it didn’t feel real to me. Also they keep kissing but she keeps saying they’re friends... like what

Six of Crows is a book in which we follow the six main characters who are working together trying to pull off a deadly heist.
I decided to read this with the Netflix show coming in April to avoid things being spoiled. This book was a bit complicated due to the many POVs. It was nonstop action and didn’t have many breathing moments. But at the same time the speed of the books kept my interest. I think it being written in third person helped. The book got better and better towards the end and I had a hard time putting the book down. I also love how it’s set in the same universe as the Grisha trilogy but is completely different. The story is very rich in details in all ways and I really like how Ketterdam is like an alternate Netherlands since I am Dutch.
I loved the characters! They are all just badass in their own way and them being anti-heroes just completes the circle. The characters felt really mature to me. I kept forgetting they’re supposed to be sixteen/seventeen years old. I keep picturing them in their early twenties. The female characters are awesome and just themselves. I just absolutely love Kaz! The intimidating criminal prodigy with a secret past. He’s just brilliant, impossibly smart and daring. I love how he plans in the book and hope to see much more of it in the next.
There isn’t really any romance in the book, but I liked how there were hints in the book. I’ve got hopes that in the second book the characters act on their feelings. I really started shipping some of the characters and want more for them! I do like how the character relationships blossom from tolerance to liking each other.
Overall, the book pulled me in and with how it ended it left me really excited to start reading Crooked Kingdom soon!
