This was really disappointing. It felt pretty phoned in with the killer being clearly telegraphed from early on in the book. As well, the completely inappropriate relationship between a student and teacher which no one batted an eye at? Not at all what I expect from this series. 2.5 stars.

This was entertaining but I'm not going to continue to read this series. There are only so many times the expression 'good gravy' can be used in a book and this book went way over the limit.

Being trans and not out is not deception. Dead naming trans people to their face and threatening to tell others is an act of violence. This book disgusts me.

This is a great sequel and I’m so invested in this series. It was WWII espionage mixed with genealogy and family drama and TexMex. I highly recommend it.

This was a bit of a letdown. The murder seemed to play second fiddle to the character drama which ended up being extremely cliche. I don’t think I’ll be reading any more of these.

I feel like the protagonist’s naivety really holds this book back. She’s not a very compelling character so I wasn’t invested in her enough to overlook the cliche flaws of a cozy mystery heroine. And there were a lot of plot set ups that were left hanging at the end of the book.

2.5 stars.
