A competent mystery marred by the jumping timeline. This was an unnecessary and unfruitful story device. The story would have been better served with a chronological narrative.

I'm so pleased and honoured that I've been able to receive advance copies of these books. This is one of my favourite urban fantasy series and once again, it didn't disappoint.

Gin is facing her usual problems at work (attempted assassinations) when one of her waitresses is drawn into a drug deal gone wrong. Bria wants the young woman to be a witness, but Gin, knowing the corruption rampant in the police force, worries for her employee's life. This case threatens to tear the sisters apart while simultaneously put them in grave danger from a powerful drug lord.

Filled with Estep's signature blend of action, dry wit and delicious food, the eleventh entry in Gin's adventures delivers a satisfying read with an explosive twist. One that may very well cost Gin and her friends their lives.
