Not as good as Wild Seed. Still good though!
Love this book. Great illustrations and a twist ending :)
Read this because I want to finish the whole Patternist series.
It's the worst installment so far and barely related to the series as a whole.
2 stars is a bit harsh for Octavia Butler because her other books are so terrific but this one was a stinker.

This was a really neat collection of re-imagined stories. Since having a baby, I tend to appreciate short stories a lot more. They're bite sized, perfect for baby naps when I really would rather not do dishes or fold laundry. In other words, all the time! :D
Not as good as Wild Seed. That really trumps every other book in this series. Still decent though.
I totally didn't realize what this was based on until the last 30 or so pages. I think that made it more enjoyable. I really liked this book. Ella has a healthy dose of what the Finnish call sisu!
I wasn't overblown by the narrator of this series as she was quite proper, quite long winded, and quite judgy. That being said, when you edit the Journal of Applied Ethics, I suppose those character traits go with the territory. I loved the descriptions of Edinburgh and I thought the housekeeper was a hoot. I still haven't read No 1 Ladies Detective Agency, but I'll give the second in this series a shot for sure,
