I don't know what I was expecting when I picked up this book. I tried as much as possible to avoid reviews and the synopsis, a so I went into this completely blind. This book is a story of how we humans NEED our five senses to enjoy the experience of human interaction fully and how important these interactions are to our wellbeing. Verissimo is a poet so I thought the language would be flowery and verbose but my goodness. It's so intentional, so succinct, so simple and yet so immersive. Also, I'm awed at the introspection that the novel commands from the reader. This is a compelling debut
