I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for a review here and on my blog Samwise Reviews. I thought this was really interesting, I loved the photos and the history and the cutaway images. It was a really great, in-depth look at places all around the world. Many of these I was familiar with but there was still a lot of new information and new perspectives.
I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for a review here and on my blog Samwise Reviews. I really enjoyed this, from the art and the history and the landmarks to the variety and diversity of the cities chosen. This would be great for both an educational use or a fun coffee table book. Some cities I was already familiar with, but others I knew little about and all had a lot of interesting facts.
I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review here and on my blog Samwise Reviews. This was a really touching and cute story. Dalya goes to Istanbul with her father and ends up on a magical journey reminiscent of The Wizard of Oz. Through their trials and journeys her and her companions learn the meaning of friendship, family, and home, in a way that will easily resonate with children. I loved the tour we got of a few of the cities highlights, and the idea of each animal having their own Grand Bazaar was perfect. Overall this is a book that I will definitely be picking up for a few children I know.
As with all of her books, I loved this. I was a bit confused at first with the new terms and types of shifters and mages, but that was explained in time. They definitely had detailed sexual encounters and I probably should have chosen something else to read on my lunch break at work, but overall I couldn't put it down and look forward to book 2.
I read this for the "Set In The Future" part of my 2020 reading challenge. It was a really cute, simple book about a boy meeting a robot. I liked how concerned they were when they thought something was wrong, and all the things they did to fix it.
I read this for the "Book In A Series" part of my 2020 reading challenge. It was really cute, I liked how panicked Splat got over the library fine, and his little mugshot.
I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for a review here and on my blog Samwise Reviews. I have not read Still Mine or Still Water, so I am reviewing Still Here from a standalone perspective. I found it showed a lot of promise at the beginning, with a really intense setup, but then just drifted along. Clare had a lot of potential but I didn't really connect with her or the other characters. I know I should have read the other books first because then I'd understand Clare better and be more involved in her journey, but she just didn't work for me. The whole mystery seemed a bit predictable and I don't understand her fascination with Malcolm nor do I believe anything he says. Overall it was good, but not my favorite.
I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for a review here and on my blog Samwise Reviews. This was certainly a twisty book, and I found myself not being able to choose which sister to root for. This was my first novel by Roz Nay and I'm definitely a fan of her writing style. It was a bit of a slow build and felt more like a family drama than a thriller, but I very much enjoyed the ride. The switching POV confused me occasionally when I forgot to pay attention to which sister it was focused on, but that's my fault for ignoring chapter headings. Overall, I'd definitely look for more of her works.
I’ve missed Dimity and this book was perfect. Her whole renovation takeover and handling of the hive was entertaining and very well done. I love her relationship with Crispin and it would be terrific to have a book with all of the new couples coming together and interacting. I think at this point I’ve read everything by Gail Carriger and I can’t wait for the next one. Conveniently it also works for the "A Spy Novel" part of my 2020 reading challenge.
I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review here and on my blog, Samwise Reviews. I thought this book was perfect and I loved every second of it. I found it to be really original and a bit spooky, and while a bit of it was predictable the characters really stood out and had their own personalities. It was intense enough that I couldn’t stop reading, but not so fast paced that I was exhausted by the end. I would love to see a sequel about how their changes are working out.
