I can appreciate the attempt, but this is not my kind of book. 

Wow! I remember learning about Tommie’s story in a high school history class however, I didn’t realize who this was until I got to that tumultuous moment at the Olympics. Amazing ❤️

Fun! A bit of magical realism (or fantasy) set in China! However, elements if this book seemed a bit rushed or unpolished. 

Intricate plot lines with a cozy atmosphere! Fun!!

Wow! Emotional juxtaposition between the 2020 BLM movement and Covid. 

This book had a really strong start! I loved the creepy imagery and the premise was fun. 

HOWEVER,

once we got into the tricker fantasy element I was still heavily invested but it lost a bit of steam for me.
