Short read which is what I want right now since I’m in school. Very compelling, a bit twisty and turny, and some really solid emotions at the end. Awesome book!

It was a lot different than I thought it would be. I felt like the whole time I was waiting for it to get off the ground, and it was only around the last hour I was quite enraptured.
I want to reread (re-listen) at some point, because this book may be something that you have to really chew on to enjoy it.

I meant to read the WHOLE House of M comic series, but I mistakenly read just the 8 issues. With that being said, it ended WAY too quickly for me, and I was definitely expecting something a bit happier. However, since this is my first excursion into the Marvel Comic Universe (thanks WandaVision), I am excited to read more whether I get a comic book hangover or not.

Super sweet sister duo steals the show in this middle-grade book!

The Book:
The feel: face-paced and compelling, realistic fiction, character-driven, amusing, angst-filled, sweet, LGBTQIA diverse, strong females, ya read, own voices

CW: alcoholism

This book definitely dealt with some difficult topics, but it was so sweet and the characters and Eli and Anna as well as the supporting cast made this book a “page-turner” (audiobook listener here) from start to finish. While listening, I never felt like even some of the more intense subjects were too much to deal with, and I think even the most sensitive of readers could enjoy this book. Eli and Anna both go through amazing transformations while changing but still staying the same, as we all do. This is definitely one of my favs for the year, and I would definitely read more by this author. If Sarah Moon writes more about Eli and Anna, I will definitely read it.

The Narrator: Clear, wry, youthful
Her voice was a bit to get used to at first, but by the end, I was loving every minute. She did an excellent job making each voice distinct—Eli’s and Anna’s especially! The wry humor definitely shone through with the narrator. I sometimes got a “Big Mouth” feel with the content since it had some amusing humor alongside some more serious topics, but not nearly as gross. I just got Matthew vibes from Javi who is so adorable!

5/5 stars from me!
