Good book! I'm not usually a pay-super-close-attention-to-the-specific-writing-style girlie, but I loved how the short chapters felt so poetic, with many that I think you could read alone as standalone (longer) poems. I'm also normally not a writing-style-gimmick girlie, but things like only ever using present tense and also no quotation marks actually felt like they enhanced the story rather than take away from it! As you can see from the review it kinda made the literary-analysis-of-a-book-im-reading-for-class part of my brain flare up but I think that's a plus. I'm definitely reading more from this author in the future!

definitely really cute! i think if i read this back when i was the target audience it would be a 5. also (and this is not a valid critique tbh) i wanted there to be a turkish kid but alas we go unrepresented in the american muslim community once again :(

I desperately wanted to love it! On paper, I should have! I don't know why I didn't! Maybe I just read it too slowly / spread out to really get into it? Idk man! I'm sad I didn't :(
