i loooooved the whimsy and the pratchett-y tone the story took at the beginning, and while I did feel like that kinda got lost when we got off ellis island but the characters (ESPECIALLY bestie uriel!!) were strong enough to carry it to the end. "you are the friend of my soul" made my heart BURST

alexis hall you have done it again. i don't think i could give this the full five stars because tbh i did find the actual romance between peggy and orfeo to be a bit lacking (though i dont even know if i can place why, i guess it just felt underdeveloped especially since it was a little bit insta-lovey??) but the rest of the shenanigans and ESPECIALLY the supporting characters more than made up for it. bonny and valentine you will always be famous <3

omg speaking of which! the fact that one of the resolutions of this book was
a foursome between this and the prev book's couple, specifically so peggy could get pregnant like she wanted to, because her lover doesnt have the balls to do it, as in they literally do not have testicles so like they couldn't do it, so the book resolves with "ok everyone done having emotional convos? yes? slay lets all have sex now" like GIRL. everyone always says they want their life to be written by emily henry or whoever but i want mine to be written by alexis hall and i want him to go heavy on the details 😁
