I mean sure I was unsettled, but I was also underwhelmed by the writing and annoyed by the editing. Chalk this up to me just not being a short story girlie overall, but I found it hard to get invested or intrigued by most of these short stories (though some of them I did really like, shoutout Moses and Gaspar) and it didn't help that they were 1. vague to the point where a lot fo the abstraction felt more bothersome than eerie and 2. so similar in themes that they blended together. Which brings me to complaint 2: why the fuck, if you're translating a writer's work into a language for the first time, would you not include an introduction, and translators notes, discussions, etc?? Not to be like please-hold-my-hand but hey, tell me the fucking context the writer's working with. I think to not have done so did a great disservice to these short stories, as well as just the general way they were curated/ordered.

Awesome. I wish I had this book growing up, it would have changed my whole life at 15.

i'm sorry but no! i don't understand why cherisse and keiran hated each other, i don't understand what about the other made either of them fall in love (other than like the sexual chemistry and surface-level attraction), i don't think the pace was where it should be (it was too fast for some things like
what exactly made them thing fwb -> dating would be a good idea
and too slow for others. some of the reveals were done so weird too because cherisse would be like "i've heard the rumors about you" and keiran would be like "oh shit of course she had" and then we as the reader had to read like 3 paragraphs before we found out??

anyway the enemies -> sleeping together part of the book was the best but that was like i wanna say from the 40% mark to the 60% mark which like... if im only interested during 20% of your book that is not good lol

Not a bad book by any means, but it did feel very mid *to me* - but even then while listening to it I could think of like a bunch of people who'd love this. I'm just already not a horror reader but when I do read horror I like to be fucking terrified... and I never really felt like the characters were in a lot of danger in this? Like, I saw a dead deer when I was out on a walk reading this and that freaked me out way more than any of this
