I can't believe I read – and enjoyed – a contemporary romance.
But wow it was so good !

Brigid Kemmerer is so talented at making characters feel real. So many times I just wanted to jump into the story to be right alongside them.
She also know how to give them a traumatizing past.

Half of me hates this book while the other half absolutely loves it.
– Do people hate Chaol for this ?!?! Really, this ?!?!?!
What else would he do ? Super vague threats on noble's life must be quite common and like it's he's job to keep sevret what he's ordered to keep secret. Come on he did nothing wrong. He was literally raised to be loyal to the king and he already pushed that limit so much for Celeana.
If that is the reason people hate him that I don't understand people.
– Why are the SJM FMC so bad at solving riddles ?! I mean. I am terrible at riddles and yet even I figured out the Eye and Tomb riddles immediately. How can they come up with super convoluted plans, but not solve a basic riddle ?!!??!!?!?
– I wish I hadn't been spoiled about Celeana being Aelin because it just made it painful too obvious all the time. I was "Ugh just get to it already"
Curse booksta for this.
I wonder if I'd have figured that out.
– We need more Dorian

I love how it developed the characters, and I can't wait to see what's coming after that ending !

Azlin 😭
Honestly I feel so bad for him he was so nice at the start of Path of Deceit and look at what he became 😭

I really loved it ! After having read the Arc of a Scythe trilogy, I had really high expectations, and I was not disappointed.

The story was really good, and I loved the reflexion around life and where it ends and stop, and how everyone has their opinion, and there's actually no good solution.

My only gripe with the book would be its first half, which felt somewhat slow (probably because my brain was half taken by it Destroy the Day and Forging Silver Into Stars (my favorite book)).
But then the as the story began unwinding itself, I couldn't put it down anymore. I had to finish it.

But also, how is that rated 12+ ? Cause the chapter when they unwind Roland would have traumatized me if I'd read it at 12yo

HOW DO I LIVE NOW?!
IT HURTS 😭
Seriously Brigid why did you played with my heart like this I had so many heart attacks reading this.

I can't believe this book is like 550 pages because it went so, so fast. I loved every single page of it (even when it broke my heart).
I also really liked how the chapters don't come and go between characters, but instead we had a bunch of chapters with one, than a bunch with another.

This book was a great mix of romance, fun and angst, with bits of political intrigue, and that was all so perfectly balanced.

And the characters. OMG the characters. I love them all so much.
– Lochlan?!?! I wasn't expecting to love him but he surprised me so much.
– Erik (Rocco). He was so great. Him and Ellmo were perfect. And his relationship with Tessa was so sweet, he's awsome.
– Tessa. She kinda annoyed me in the second book but in this one she was awsome.
– Corrick. Haaaaa, Corrick. Idk what to say without spoilers so I'll stop there.
– HARRISTAN. I wasn't the biggest fan of his chapters in Defend the Dawn, but in Destroy the Day ? PERFECTION.
– Quint. Quint is Quint and he'  so awsome.

Spoilers :
– Quint was marking down the dates Harristan smiled. HE WAS WRITING THE DATES HARRISTAN SMILED. That is the most insane, sweet, thing ever
(Also it's also so sad that Harristan didn't smiled more. BUT LIKE ARTFJFKFKDKF)
– Starting a chapter by Corrick at the happiest he's ever been in the series only to absolutely DESTROY HIM half a page latter was so very cruel 😭
So was leaving us to cry 40 pages until that last chapter.
– Lochlan and Corrick were so awsome together, the evolution of their relationship was so well written. Corrick teaching him to read and in the end asking him to be the King's Justice was perfect.
– Erik's with Olive now and they're gonna have a kid omg.
– CORRICK. Either he was making me laught because of his banter  with Lochlan, or cry with his angst but I love him.
But like those chapter when he believed Harristan was dead. It was devastating.
But also when he asked Tessa to marry him that scene was soooooooo good he already had the ring ready 🥹

Spoilers for Rule of Wolves (the last Grishaverse book) :
Ever since the first book, Quint kept reminding me of David, so let me tell you that when the palace crumbled I WAS UNWELL. DEAD INSIDE. It was David's death all over again. I was destroyed. (And in the subway lol, crying in my seat)

I loved that book way better than the previous one. The plot felt like it moved faster, and I think I loved the POV characters better ?
I never really felt like I missed Harper/Rhen

Grey was such an interesting protagonist, but for me Lia Mara was the real surprise. She's awsome.

TYCHO IS HERE (he's really the reason I picked up this trilogy in the first place)
I have a feeling that all his scenes in AHSFAB are gonna make re-reading Forging Silver Into Stars wayyyyyy more sad than it was when I first read it. I can't wait to cry :)

Spoilers :
RHEN
How dare you ? I can't believe he put on this whole "I wanna be you friend" act with Grey just to do THAT to give and Tycho like ok you fear magic but to the point of torturing the only friend you had for an eternity and an innocent 15yo ?!?!?!?! Really ?!?!?!?!
– Lia Mara and Grey's romance was AMAZING
I love them.

⚠️ Spoilers for Forging Silver Into Stars ⚠️ :
Every time Noah said that Tycho would follow Grey off a cliff I was reminded of how Grey treated him in FSIS

Damn I can wait to re-read that book.
