Caldecott Winner 1965

I think it has a good message about trying to accept other people's friends, but I wasn't getting into the rhythm of the text.

Better than some of the others in the series, but still feels like it's being extended out endlessly because it makes money.

Caldecott Medal, 1989

Grandpa shows some of his old dance skills to his grandkids.

1975 Caldecott Winner

I really enjoyed the illustrations in this book.

MSBA Nominee 2010/2011

This is my least favorite of the war offerings on this year's MSBA list. Petros is a boy in WWII Greece who is picked on by his older brother Zola. The Italians are already hanging about, and there are rumors that the Germans will move in at any time. Petros and his brother get involved in some dangerous games in an attempt to help the war effort. Based on Akila Coloumbis' life.

Caldecott Winner 1982

I love Van Allsburg's illustrations.

I enjoyed it, although I feel like this series is starting to be drawn out a bit too much. Something needs to change. As much as I enjoy reading about Grandma Mazur, I think it's getting stale. Something's gotta change.

I'm glad that she decided to only do eight books. I think it made the storyline tighter for this one than some of the others, and definitely better in comparison to other teen series.
