Amazing.

MSBA Nominee 2008-2009

2009-2010 Biddeford Intermediate School Book Award.

I liked this, but not for the orphans. I liked it because of the old-fashioned feel to it. I wish more books were written that way.

Long before Hillary Clinton, Sarah Palin and Geraldine Ferraro, there was Belva Lockwood who ran for president before women could even vote. She also was the first woman to argue a case before the Supreme Court, she fought for the ability of the first black man to argue before the Supreme Court, and she represented the Eastern Cherokee Indian Nation over the "Trail of Tears" that they were forced to march and won them five million dollars. I had never heard of her until this book, but I think she's someone that everyone should know.

(Sadly, not a Smithie. She went to Genesee College, which is now Syracuse University.)

It's going to be tough for me to choose between this one and [b:Charles and Emma The Darwins' Leap of Faith|4292125|Charles and Emma The Darwins' Leap of Faith|Deborah Heiligman|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/519x0TUtn7L._SL75_.jpg|4339698] for the award and I'm not just saying that because Phillip Hoose is from Maine. These two are honestly the best out of the four I've read so far, and for non-fiction books to be page-turners that I don't want to put down, you know they have to be pretty good.

BIS Book Award Nominee 2009-2010

It was pretty good. Not about an Olympic Lying event, but rather a contest for children with toys and puzzles to solve. I enjoyed it.

I really liked the diamond poem structure in this book, as well as the way certain words were bolding to emphasize how Willow was feeling.

I hope the next book is the last in this series.
