MSBA Nominee 2009-2010

I liked this one. A talking chicken! That's probably the most important point for booktalks. ;)

MSBA Nominee 2009-2010

I liked the book, once I got into it. I didn't really get into until we started hearing about Bergania. My major problem was that Tally seemed to be this really perfect character whom everyone loved, and I just wasn't feeling it. I didn't see WHY she was so universally loved or magical.

MSBA Nominee 2009-2010

A slow starter, I have to admit. It's also written formally, which I think may turn off some people. There were also random fairy tale elements thrown in. Those are the main flaws. Otherwise, the book was good, and when it did pick up, I didn't really want to leave my car and stop listening.

LOVED IT.

This book was a little on the sad side. I think it's good for people trying to overcome phobias, or who really like animal books, or books about people who live mostly off the land.

BIS Award Nominee

Poems about the creation of the Statue of Liberty. I'm not sure it's the best format for the age group, but the pictures are gorgeous.

This book is more interesting than I thought it would be. It follows a year in the life of a family farm in Ohio.

An older series that I have never read. Pretty cute and pretty tame.

Maybe I'm going to need to make a zombie shelf. An interesting take on the genre, although I'll admit that I'm definitely not an expert. Not too gory.
