After the death of her twin, Tam Ling Fan disguises herself as a boy to work on the Transcontinental Railroad in the United States. There, she will earn the money necessary to get her father out of jail. Yee does a good job of explaining the dangers and hardships that railroad workers went through at that time.

Chloe Green is so close to being valedictorian and getting away from her Christian high school in rural Alabama. There's just one problem--her main competition has kissed her and gone missing. Chloe isn't going to win on a technicality! She's going to bring Shara Wheeler back and make her admit to what she's done.

I mean, the whole book is a little extra in a way--who sets up their own scavenger hunt about their disappearance in high school? but it's fun extra. Lots of great side characters. I didn't entirely buy the main romance, but that didn't detract from my enjoyment of the book as a whole.

This book is about Vicky, a secret gamer from an abusive background who struggles to stand up for herself. Her brother is a successful e-sports gamer, playing for a sponsored team in a World of Warcraft like game. He thinks she has no interest in gaming at all, but pays her to be his manager/assistant.

Although I found that it took me a while to understand what exactly the game was, and even e-sports, the book covers a lot of interesting themes. The way women are treated in the gaming sphere? Still true. Domestic abuse and the trauma of that is also still a thing. I think the book really shined once it got into the gaming parts.

I thought this book might cover more of the COVID-19 pandemic than it did, particularly since most people know about Wuhan now because of that. Instead, we got a memoir about a girl struggling to fit in, to relate the two parts of herself: the part from Wuhan who fit in so easily, and the part in Texas trying to be an American and avoid Chinese school. I enjoyed reading it a lot, even if some of the immigration themes were ones that I've read in other titles.

This book wasn't really my cup of tea. I think it's tough to make stories told in second person work, and I wasn't a huge fan of its use here. I also had a hard time with the forensic science pieces, as someone who isn't a true crime reader by nature. When it tells me that I can use my skills to do something and I don't know it, I found that annoying.

This book is about coming to terms with the trauma you've faced, and maybe some you helped create, using the power of time travel and physics.

Horror stories with a Latine focus. Many will enjoy.

Very good, very powerful, sometimes overwhelmingly so. An important read for all of us.

This book is a reflection of Ogle's memories of his Abuela, a woman who has dementia and is starting to forget things about their life. In this book you feel how much his Abuela loves him, and fights for him to believe in himself and have a good life. After reading it, when you reflect on how much it must hurt for him to have this woman forget about him, your heart will break. Powerful.
