I thought it got a little shame-y over weight from time to time, but overall it was a good overview of nutrition and health for kids.
medium-paced

An overview of facts about water.

Don't try to read this all in one setting, like I did. Spread it out and let yourself absorb the information slowly. Pay attention to our planet! This book will help you out with that.
informative fast-paced

This book is a fast-paced look at what might happen if an EMP knocked out power to the entire US, told from the perspective of one kid. I started it earlier in October, but I had to put it down because it was too rough for me at the time (there was a mass shooting in my town). Honestly, reading it close to the holidays wasn't a lot better. It stressed me out thinking how unprepared I would be for such a situation. Still, I think this book is going to grab the attention of even the most reluctant reader.

Plot or Character Driven: Plot
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes

This gave me the warm fuzzy feels I was looking for (even if I find it hard to believe that it would happen in real life). It's a romance between a star hockey player and a goalie called up from the AHL to the big leagues to fill in a gap. It's also a introvert/extrovert relationship. Some things I appreciated was the open bisexuality of one character, as well as another character being somewhere on the ace/demi spectrum. There was clear communication about boundaries and what people wanted and didn't want, and I liked that a lot too. Just what I needed.
emotional

I was looking for light and fuzzy, and this wasn't that for me. This book is more for someone who is looking for realistic relationship drama with stress and angst. Just not for me right now.
fast-paced

This book made me so angry--so angry over how we treated women in the late 90s/early 2000s, angry over how her father treated her family but was allowed to do so over and over again, and angry at how just the men in Spears' life have treated her over and over again. I think Spears deserves the time to figure out what she wants in life.

This was okay, but I felt like it kept a lot of the more sexist aspects of King Arthur intact and unquestioned.
funny hopeful lighthearted medium-paced

I liked this book more than I thought I would. It has heart, and it's about a group of kids who join together to make a movie and end up finding friendship and learning things along the way. Deeper than the cover suggests.
informative medium-paced

I read this book because someone recommended it for people who work with children about how to moderate their own emotions around kids so they can best support children. And it's so true! It's going to take me a while to put all the things in practice but honestly I bought it for my library because I thought it was really important.
