I love Laura Ruby's writing style so much. It is just so beautiful. I love the feeling of magic that stays around the worlds she creates. In this one, she tells the story of twins who created an alternate New York City, one with machines that may or may not be alive. Just a blast.

As a cisgender woman, it is hard for me to figure out if this book is helpful or harmful. To me, it seemed like there were very realistic reactions that people have had to trans individuals. I don't know whether that would be a trigger or not. I also struggled with the protagonist, Dana Baker's reaction to what her mother told her. She seemed unusually selfish. Perhaps if she had been a bit younger, I would have understood, but she needed to be 18 for the plot to work. I enjoyed the story, and I liked Mellie explaining herself through emails, but I would like to read reviews by trans people before giving it out.

Cute story about friendship. Love the illustrations.

Really liked this one. A cute story about friendship and pets. Love the variety of pets.

I liked this one. It's about a bear and a piano, but it is also about how there is no place like home.

This is an excellent book about one family and how they reacted to having a child who identifies as transgender. I hope I can be as good a parent as the Maines' are. Nutt does a great job of telling this personal story along with the history of gender and transgender rights across the United States. I really enjoyed it.

I thought this book was just going to be about two boys attempting to break the world record for longest kiss. It is so much more. It spans relationship statuses from single to new to stable to heartbreak. It also has these amazing narrators of men who died during the AIDS crisis who celebrate what these boys are able to do while also reminding us that it wasn't that long ago that we wouldn't help them with a deadly disease. Sometimes the book is very hard to read but it is worth it.

I read this in one sitting. I am showing The Greatest Showman on Monday to my teens and I wanted to have some biographical information to share with them. A good readable biography.
