A quick read that will teach you a little about caribou migration. It has lots of pretty photographs

Kestrel, as the daughter of the general, lives a sequestered life in a newly conquered territory. On a whim, she purchases a slave at the market and instantly feels "the winner's curse," which is when you win something at auction but wonder if you paid more than it was worth. I picked up the book because of the ballgown cover, but it's not really a ballgown book. I would call this a book about strategy: in the military, life, and love. I'm interested enough to read the second, but I wouldn't call it one of my favorites yet.

Once I got going I devoured these stories. All told in second person, they draw you into the flawed characters' lives.

Oh man, I was worried I would forget what had happened previously, but I was whipped back into it pretty quickly. Fast-paced and full of plot, I can see why the kids love this. Off to read the last one before Thursday!

A satisfying conclusion to the Heroes of Olympus series.

This definitely wasn't a fast read for me, but it was definitely worth it. I will be interested to see how they changed it for the young readers edition.

Another great book from Jacobson!
