Frankie the bear holds a ball of yarn as he drifts off to sleep, finding comfort in the tradition. His dreams relate to the color of the ball he holds, written by Winstanley in a beautiful and soothing fashion. At the other end is his mother, knitting a surprise for Frankie when he is ready to let go of this comforting tradition.

A unique bedtime story to help comfort those afraid of the dark and being lonely.

Each animal claims the moon as its own. But when the Moon steps in to solve the puzzle, it declares it is a light for all with no one single thing in ownership. Large and gorgeous illustrations make this a perfect read-aloud for storytimes. The illustrations and animal sounds will be perfect for the younger crowd but the question is great for the older listeners.

Imagine the things you can do with your blankey! Sam transforms his blankey into a variety of objects as they adventure around and finally wind down for the night. Repetition is a fun invitation to participate along with the actions.

Song: Twinkle, Twinkle

This little boy just wants to sleep but his robots have one goal: use any excuse they can to stay awake. Starting out this book with a solid rhyme pairing of bed/infrared, Tarpley presents the ever-common theme of avoiding sleep with unnecessary requests--this time with robots. An extra star for juxtaposing the calming tune of Twinkle Twinkle with abrasive interruptions from the robots.

Bird: Owl

Hoot Owl has the best intentions: to catch his prey and fill his hungry tummy. He's got the dedication. He has the sneakiness. He has the right spy mentality and uses big, mysterious words. But...no one falls for it. Not until the last victim falls prey to his masterful disguises. Must be read in a lower, cooler voice to add extra fun.

Absolute perfection. Reminds me of my toddler--Come on now, don't eat that rock!

Toy: Box

Presenting another box story! It may not be the most magnificent book out there but it's a fun read. We follow the oldest brother as he tries to escape his two younger brothers, finally deciding to go "nowhere" so they can't follow him. In order to go nowhere, he takes the old washing machine box and transforms it into a vessel of imagination. But nowhere is kinda boring without anyone there to play with him. What can he do to fix his problem?

Sheep 101 falls on the fence, beginning a whole slew of silliness as a little boy tries to fall asleep. Speech bubbles and emotive illustrations make this great for reading aloud to a group in a variety of voices.

Inspired by Korean folklore, Kim presents Rabbit the wish collector who transforms them into stars to fill the night sky. But what about Rabbit's wishes? A neat introduction for young children to comic style panels mixed in with full page art.
