Age: Infant-Preschool

Cat and Dog row their way down the stream, encountering various animals along the way, encouraging the reader and listener to roar, trumpet, and chatter along. Although Cabrera rhymes trump with trunk (ugh), this would make a great read-aloud for storytime, especially with the bold and eye-catching illustrations.

Age: Infant

Great read-aloud for the bright illustrations and the contrasting concepts. Although the monkey's wearing trousers but no other animals are wearing clothes, it does present a nice visual differentiation.

Age: Toddler-Kindergarten
Animals: Monkey, shark

This is one determined monkey! He even attempts a pulley system to retrieve a bundle of bananas on a nearby island. Why can't he just swim? A shark lies in wait, ready for his next meal. The graphics are sure to catch the eye of younger ones and the physical humor will please a wide age range.

Age: Toddler-Preschool

Three roughhousing brothers try and one-up each other to determine who is the biggest pig. I'm sure the siblings that constantly roughhouse and compete can relate to these three pigs.

Things That Go: Construction

I'm sure this will be a crowd pleaser but I'm disappointed that the author missed such a great opportunity for vocabulary. Every time Digger Dog cannot dig through the tough soil he gets a "bigger digger" and a "much bigger digger." It just feels like a missed opportunity.

Age: Infant-Toddler

With sparse text perfect for storytime, babies and toddlers enjoy a variety of books. A nice addition is that the books the children are reading correspond to the activities they are doing and the settings they are in, giving caregivers more to talk about in the pages than the sparse text.

Age: Infant-Toddler

This book has the feel of a board book, but with bigger pages suitable for storytime, which shows one thing per page that you might see in the daytime and in the nighttime. Simple and sweet!

Age: Infant-Preschool
Clothing: Hats!

A simple story--almost too simple--and bold illustrations make this book perfect for younger storytimes. Each animal is grumpy until someone cheers them up with a hat present.

Age: Infant-Kindergarten

The magic of this book is in the action. Although the story is not it's strong suit, it's not meant to be. Instead, the sound effects of animals describe the action of the story, even rhyming! Great for talking a child through a book and asking them questions about what they see.

Age: Toddler-1st grade

A hyperactive pup causes unwanted messes but his girl owner still loves him in the end.
