This was such a delicious twisted dark academia romp and just the perfect witchy murder mystery New England vibes to get you in the autumn mood. Kept me guessing and spooked. Queer af. No notes. 

A concise, fast-paced sci-fi time travel novel that kids will love for its action, humor, and heart. A lot of SFF for this age tends to be on the longer end with a lot of world building and description, but this one jumps right into the story and never slows down. I think it will attract a lot of readers who don't normally gravitate to the genre, and it seems to set up for an interesting series. 

A beautiful, intriguing, and eerie novel in verse with themes of grief, gender identity, friendship, and coming of age. It tenderly straddles the line between magical realism and allegory and I think sticks the landing of that question quite well by the end. Stylistically, it leans slightly more towards stories for kids that adults enjoy than stories for kids that kids enjoy, but that’s a small complaint in an otherwise compellingly told story.

I don’t have sufficient words to review this but it was epic, and masterful, and a thousand times better and more meaningful than The Secret History. IMHO. 😉
