I read this for a challenge to read a bestseller from the year you were born, because my husband still has the entire collection from childhood and our kids frequently reread it. There are a few outdated things, but for a comic strip, it still mostly holds up 37 years later and it’s hard not to love all the characters.

A delight. Beautiful illustrations, compelling story, interesting characters. I’d be very interested to read further in the series and I’m curious to see if my middle school manga lovers will enjoy it as much as I did.
