So good I didn’t want it to be over!

So much love for one of the most refreshing YA books I’ve ever read. Darius is vulnerable, authentic, and utterly lovable in his raw teenage angst. This could have easily been an “issues book” about any number of things, but it comes across purely as one beautiful, multi-faceted depiction of being human. Wide appeal for readers of all types, but especially perfect for fans of I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter or Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe.

I mean, honestly, what magic sauce does this author have that made everything about this book to-die-for adorable perfection? I devoured it. Perfect light summer read that also has spice and spunk and heart for days. All the heart eyes. Such a treat.

Luminous, lyrical, brilliant.

4 stars for non-binary rep, teenage characters in counseling and prioritizing their mental health, and maneuvering complex family relationships, all things we don’t see enough of in YA. I listened to the audio but would recommend picking this one up in print.
