A unique concept, executed with nuance and a strong voice, but sometimes felt incomplete

This book is just dripping with early aughts teenage cringe and I loved it for that. It’s a train wreck you can’t look away from and a wholly unique experience. The pain, relationships, and internal reflections were all so vivid and real and fleshed out and agonizing. I think this book will stick with me and I would LOVE to read more from the author after this debut.

This was really smart to the point that I’m not sure I understood it all in its full depth (could be the audio format), but the ethical questions it poses are worthwhile, heartfelt, and urgent.

immersive, epic, slow burn. I mostly really loved this. Alice’s chapters always took me out of the story, particularly when she would have flashbacks about her sister, which draagggeed. But otherwise I was in. Toxic lesbian vampires are the moment.

A great, concise intro to ableism and disability activism/justice/thought.

Didn’t feel particularly attached to either of these characters and AHB’s writing of secondary characters who aren’t white and bi/cis always feels a little off but yeah I’ll read the next one.
