This book was adorable. They were parts that highly annoyed me, but the overall story is such a heart beaming, inclusive story that you just want to suck it up. The parts that make me mad was how coach did not stand up for her players even when they said “hey, there’s a problem”. I didn’t like how other people ignored problems, but when Ezra was so warm and welcoming, it was just amazing. Plus, one of my favorite things that Ezra and his friends do is “permission to hug”. It’s such a great lesson. It’s just in there. It’s not bragging, it’s not pretty, it’s just there. There’s tension when you think about following in your mothers or your father’s footsteps, why it works, why it doesn’t. All of that goes in to this book. It’s overflowing and brimming with heart and conscious and love and hope. While they often joke about being Canadian famous, this book will be all the way famous not just in Canada. If you’re a fan of Heartstopper you need to pick this up.

Lore grew up on the catacombs under the city. A catacomb inhabited by a cult. Now she runs poisons to keep a roof over her head and food in her belly. But Lore has a special ability. She can channel Mortem…Death Magic. But after an accident brings her powers to light of others she is taken by the Presque Mort to help figure out what is killing the villagers of outlying cities.
The Presque Mort is a group a special monks, and Gabriel is both her jailer and her accomplice in this task. But there is also Basition, heir to the Sainted King and ruler of the land, who is not exactly what the city things he is.
I was thoroughly engrossed in this book and was so disappointed when my audiobook ended, because it ended in the middle of a sentence. It turns out that my audiobook was 3 HOURS SHORT!!!! And no way to get a new download. And while I still have not finished this book, I fully plan to reread it in full when it the sequel comes out because I have to know more!!!

You know, how some books just stay with you for a while. This is one of those books. It is a cross between Pinocchio and Steven Spielberg’s AI, but with a happy ending and a ton of heart. Hap is the last living boy. The world has been taken over by robots. He survives out in the woods with his father Gio, with no knowledge that he is fully unique. Upon accidently alerting the AI overlords that he is alive, dangerous adventure begins to find humanity within the metal and wires of artificial life.
This is my first TJ Klune book. I see why his stories are beloved. This was engrossing. And I didn’t mind when I had to listen to section repeatedly because I missed something. Sometimes I listened to them again because they made me laugh. There is tongue in cheek comedy like the vacuum that is named Rambo (probably a Rumba from our time), and the nursing box named Ms. Ratchet. This book is just fun. But it also makes you think. Both at AI and what could happen, and at what it means to be human, especially when there are no other humans around to learn from.
I loved this book. I have many others by this author in my collection that I look forward to reading. I know he is considered controversial to some, and I understand and respect those feelings.

This is a new paranormal mystery series. One night Blair is watching out her window and sees someone attacked by a vampire, and a bunch more. She freaks out and turns into a black cat. She never knew she could do this, and it has her in panic mode. In walks a cute guy from the SPA (supernatural protection agency) to whisk her off to a safe house. This safe house is actually a bread and breakfast for magic folk. And the mystery goes from there.
For me this book was not memorable. It was cute, and I was glad to have listened to it, but after a month, I will not remember much about it. It is very run of the mill. Plus, it is written in first person, which drives me crazy. The book was good, but I would not remember enough of it to continue the series.

This second book in the supernatural singles series is just as fun as the first. Rose Maxwell was supposed to be the next Prima, until her older sister’s magic started to bloom. Now she is off the hook, and her marriage to the bore is officially cancelled. Rose can be free to find and do what she wants. Including having a super sexy one-night stand with a Demon. However, after the sisters get into some trouble for trying to “free” abused animals from the location that is helping them, Rose gets sentenced to community service in Damian’s animal rescue.
Their one night was hot and heavy and sexy as hell. They both want more, but they don’t want a relationship. So, friends with benefits and no strings, or feelings is the new plan. Rose is trying to figure out what she wants to do in life. She was raised and trained to be the Prima, and now has the chance to explore her options and find a new life. And Bounty hunting just may be that new path. Afterall, she is a powerful, and connected witch.
This book, just like the first is just fun from beginning to end. It is more than steamy and definitely spicy, but low spicy. Maybe a 1 or a 1.5 out of 5 on the spice register. Pretty typical for most romance novels. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and know more are to come. There is one more sister, and if I am remembering correctly, there is also a succubus, whose story I cannot wait to read.

This book was so much fun. Space travel takes time, and for most it is a one-way trip. Mickey just needed off his planet, and the only way to get out of trouble was taking a job as the expendable on a one-way trip to terraform a new planet. His job is to die. His conscience and everything that makes Mickey Mickey, is uploaded, preferably frequently, and when the crew need someone to do something dangerous, or something that will surely cause death, that is Mickey’s job.
We start this book with Mickey out on exploration. He is exploring a set of caves when he falls, and his friend/crew mate, says he’s not performing a rescue, and that Mickey can just pop the hatch and they will print a new one. This is Mickey’s job. He knows it, but he has this thing about purposefully killing himself. He can’t do it. With a little help of a giant fuzzy caterpillar, Mickey makes it back to base by morning, with minimal injuries. The only problem, when he makes it all the way to his bunk, and finds out Mickey 8 is in his bed, freshly regenerated. And while they are both the same person, they are both alive, and both hope to stay that way.
This book is both a look at the complications of technology like this, as well as the ethical and religious beliefs in this practice (it’s not preachy). But it is done with the whit and wisdom one would find in the Murderbot books. This book is funny, heart tugging, and will keep readers at the end of their seats at times. It is well thought out, flows at just the right pace and make you keep turning the page. This is a duology, but one could just read this book and be just fine. It has an ending, that works well, and will satisfy readers.

Roxie Clark comes from a cursed family. Most of the women in her family die young. Her mother is no exception. Now, Roxie, a legal to drive high school student, plays into her history by reliving her heritage in the form of ghost tours. Roxie has experienced death and knows how to put on a good show. Not only has her mother passed, but her sister, Skylar’s boyfriend Collin was found murdered just a year ago. Roxie, in trying to help bring her sister out of her depression, gives her sister a present that Collin intended to present at graduation. But this present was not expected and sends Skylar and Roxie looking Collin’s killer.
This book wasn’t bad, it was a fun listen, but it was not the best of the bunch either. The author is trying to make Roxie a Manic Pixie Goth girl, but it comes off as to run of the mill. She is constantly worried about who she can trust, and when will the ghosts be avenged. It fits nicely within it’s genera, and many will find it an exciting read. And it is perfect for spooky season, or any other season.

This picture book biography is lacking in biography. It starts out interesting, but it takes so long to list various colors it deadens the rest of the story. The artwork is great, and the authors note at the end was way more informative than the pages of the book. I like this book, but it could’ve been done better.

This is a fine children’s biography. It gets the job done. It is massively wordy. It is way too long for no reason. There seems to be a lot more filler language than actual story about the senator. The illustrations are fine, nothing special. I do like to see that books are being written about current political figures, but I am irrationally, annoyed, because a book about a senator from Illinois, is written by an author from Texas, and illustrated by an artist from California. I don’t know if Tammy had any say in who did the writing or the illustrations but if she did, they should have been from Illinois.

Adam Rex is always sure to make you laugh and he has done it again. Our main child has gum stuck in their hair. Scissors don’t work they get stuck as well. As different people walk through the door, they have different ideas on how to remove the gum, and they all get stuck in the hair. Until eventually, the kid can’t take it anymore. He yells for everyone to leave him alone please and walks out the door. This is sure to make anybody laugh and will be a hit at home or at story time.
