I’m not quite sure how to feel about this book. In it a man adopts a puppy and teaches it to carry eggs in his mouth as well as fetch sticks. He’s trying to be hunting dog. On the first hunting trip when the hunter shoots a duck, and the dog retrieves it the dog takes it to an island, and brings back a stick. Every time the hunter and the dog go out the dog does this. He has an island of her ducks. The Hunter finds out and feels shame, so they nurse the ducks back together until he can release them healthy. Before I go farther, I should say the artist is amazing. It’s unusual. It’s unique and its quality perfectly sums up the discombobulated feeling left by the words of the book. It’s nice that the hunter nurses these birds back to health, but it’s horrible that he shot them to begin with. I have a problem with guns in picture books for kids. Hunting is a legitimate activity, and I understand that. But when animals are so often used to fableize humans, I would hate to think any little kids might get the idea to shoot someone and an adult can make it better. The US has a problem with guns. That is 100% the reason for my discombobulated feelings and I don’t care if hunting is legitimate sports, I do not think guns of any type should be in a picture book.

I almost DNFed this book multiple times. There were times when it came to the map making shop, that things just didn’t historically fit right with me based on all of other historical romance I have read in the past. And I don’t know why I kept going back to it, but I did. I’m glad I did. I thoroughly enjoyed this book once I got over whatever problem I had in the beginning. This is a typical historical romance. It’s trophy, it’s expected, but the question is do you enjoy the ride to the end? Yes, I did. I do believe this book is in a series, but you don’t have to read the series to enjoy this book. If there’s another one, will I pick it up… maybe. I’ll at least give it a second look.

This is a fun early graphic novel for kids reading above easy readers, but not fully into chapters yet. In it, we have a boy and his best sandwich trying to find stuff to do on a rainy day. They try to be stunt performers and prove it with three stunts, but will they both survive? The story is fun. It’s cute. It’s a tad bit ridiculous but that’s exactly why kids are gonna like it.

This book has nice information but for some reason it feels like it should rhyme. Especially because halfway through there’s a song. The illustrations are great. I just wish the writing was redone. There’s nothing about this book that makes it memorable to the children reading it besides the pictures.

This book is quite typical of these books. There is really nothing to set this apart from other books. It is something needed that will get checked out frequently from libraries.

This book tries to work in the Night Before Christmas rhyming pattern. The book does rhyme, but some of them are harsh and it causes cadence loss. This book is it really is just for the people of Georgia. It’s almost like a book for tourism. Come see these places Christmas time or any other. The illustrations were the best part of the book, and it would be interesting to see them do different states.

A young boy does not want to do what his mother says, such as cleaning his room and not eating ice cream for breakfast. He wants a robot because the robot will do whatever he orders. But it’s realizing that giving orders doesn’t make you happy. That is the lesson of this book. I have read better books. The idea is there but drawn out and not fun. This is a problem because the illustrations are amazingly fun. Their bright, their lively, the emotion is all there on the page. Between the frustrated boy and the exasperated mother, and even the robot just wanting to do this. The illustrations are what really make this book. The story I could take or leave.

This book is about a car trip in 1984 for a family between Toronto and Bronx, New York. One member of the family is a very avid map reader and loves following along and requests daddy let her help. This book is a snapshot in time of a memory. It makes the entire story work.

This book was pretty fun. It’s written almost as a National Geographic special but instead of following an animal, you’re following a little boy who is up at night. He plays a game, tries to sneak a snack, and wakes grandpa and the rest is history. Kids will like this book, and they’ll think it’s fun. That’s the only thing that matters.

Wow. This is a bloodcurdling good time. This story has three parts where we follow three different main characters. The first part is about Erin who caught the new pandemic virus. This virus is way worse than Covid. It turns Erin into a brain eating thing. Part two we follow a prostitute who catches the disease and learns through eating brains and then regurgitating them. She also “gets off” on her murders as she can no longer “get off” from her old profession profession. The third part is about the chosen woman. The woman who’s lived her entire life growing tumors and the part those tumors play in the apocalypse. All the stories come together for lackluster ending. I listen to this on audiobook and was thoroughly engrossed. I didn’t want to stop, even when I needed to take breaks because of disturbing mental. The last hour of this book was ugghh. Some of the action was predictable and at times it was felt like the author had run out of ideas and couldn’t come up with anything better. The book also ends at a weird point. You think there’s a problem with your audiobook and that you’re not at the end of the story but you are. So, except for the last hour, this was a good book. This book is a four-star read. The last hour of this audiobook was a two star read. Trigger warning for everything. If you are not in hard-core blood and guts with a little bit of erotica thrown in, do not pick up this book. If you like a good monster tale, that leaves your eyes wide then pick this up and hopefully you like the ending better than I did.
