Owl is top dog. They have always been the top of the chain. The biggest baddest predator there is. An owl knows that they are the best at everything. The winter games are here and now it’s time to prove it. Except owl does not prove it. Owl loses at everything. All because owl did not take time to learn and get better. They just assumed. The story is great, and the artwork is amazing. I would like to see more books by this illustrator in this style. Even if it’s more tales of owl or the other forest creatures. Altogether, this was a joy to read and I think kids will love it and adults will love the message.

I like the idea of this book, but I feel it’s too wordy. It’s also long. It lost my attention way before the end. I finished it but not because I wanted to and I have a feeling kids would feel the same way.

I worry this book will be hard to understand. I am an adult. I found it hard to understand. I’m not sure at what age a child would understand this but my three-year-old niece wouldn’t. It’s also so long and literary and esoteric, but she’s not gonna pay attention. I do like the art in this book but that’s about it.

This book was OK. If I had no knowledge of Junie B I would probably like this book, however I am a Junie B diehard who read every original book. The novels are better. You don’t get the precociousness and the annoyance of Junie B in the graphic novel. You don’t pick up her cadence and you do get that she doesn’t like Jim but not why. The translator did an OK job taking this from novel to graphic novel and while I enjoyed it it’s not a series, I would come back to in graphic novel format. I’m a diehard for the original novels.

This book is way too long. It feels interminable. I liked it in the beginning, but then it started reaping the story with minor differences. The author does okay rhyming, but they try so hard a cadence is lost. This book still needs time to grow.

This book was good. It’s about the good that somebody has within themselves and that they can spread to others. It warns that sometimes trouble will want to come in, but as long as you remain to the good, life will be good. This was interesting. It may not be for everybody , but it is an interesting read.

My loves to feel the warm sun on her skin. Her favorite times are time spent outside. However, members of her family warn her to stay out of the sun and be careful as her skin gets darker. This makes maya not feel beautiful in her body and wonder why is being darker so bad. It takes her mom to tell her that ALL skin colors are beautiful, not just light or dark and that the world needs to work to change their views on colorism.

When a young boy and his box eat all the strawberries in the house, they made a deal with Mom. If they can eat 10 lima beans each, she will buy more strawberries. Instead, these two take to planting their own strawberries so they’ll never have to eat lima beans again. This was a fun early graphic novel for grades 2 to 4. The illustrations are fun and charming and puts a smile on your face.

This book is a historical look at various transgendered people in time. It was very interesting to read Most of these people are not found in other biographies for children. The artwork was decent, but I really don’t like the cover. I think it would distract rather than attract readers.

This book uses the idea of amusement park to discuss the various animals one would find in the ocean. It’s interesting and educational. I really do like the illustrations however, as fantastic as they are I think they do little to service the information that’s being portrayed. This book would have been better with real pictures of the real animals.
