Little bear wants to help decorate the Christmas tree, but he is just too small. He can not reach to put on the garland, when he tries to add candles he breaks ornaments, etc. Over all this book wasn’t bad, but it’ wasn’t great either. It feels dated, especially with the putting the candles on the tree. YIKES! But it is a nice story that many will like.

This book is so going to show up on banned lists, and while that sucks, this book is so good. Fred like to run around the house naked. Until he wanders into mom and dads closet. Fred tries on Dad’s clothes, but they don’t fit. Then they try on mom’s clothes. This do fit, and then Fred wanders to the make and jewelry. About the time Fred is making a mess, the parents walk in and join the fun. This book was so awesome. it’s about play. That anyone can play as anything. Could this be deeper meaning maybe, maybe not. The story keeps things simple so that all kids can see themselves, whether cis gender, trans, or non-binary.

This middle grade story is of magic, who controls it, who can use it, and who can destroy it. Magic is helped along by all the colors that are woven into capes and one young lady Sidelle finds out exactly how magic works when she is taken from her home by a young wizard named North. North is out to prove who killed the king. He has the answers and now all he has to do is get them to the queen to stop the war. But this journey will be perilous and other wizards will try to stop him. Overall this book wasn’t bad. The novel is quite lengthy so to see it shrunk down this much in graphic novel format it does work but is missing some detail that’s probably in the novel. Overall it was a good read but not something I think people will speak will still be talking about in 20 years.

This new look at Poison Ivy‘s origins introduces her father, her friend or her friend, and her extremely sick mom. What I liked about this book was the content warnings for incest, rape, and abuse. Now you don’t have a lot of that in the book however the book is entirely an allegory for all of those things and there are resources for people that need it at the back. This very dark and of course poison ivy is a villain so it should have a dark origin story but it’s very well done andI can’t wait to see how the story goes forward from here.

The Bailey school kids is a classic beginning chapter book series for kids it has been around for decades. Just recently they started to turn the classic books into a graphic novel series coming out a scholastic called graphics. The graphics are fine and lovely kids will see them and enjoy them. However the graphic novels turn the kids into little snot that are really quite annoying where in the chapter books they are precocious and curious and not necessarily obnoxious but in the book they’re obnoxious so for me this is it A total fail it’s not bad but not something I would gravitate to or probably recommend. If you want a good beginning chapter graphic novel choose Cleo in Fritz automatic treehouse

This book is meant to usher in a new era of batgirl mainly Cassandra Cain. It starts off a little odd because Cassandra has no speaking ability. she doesn’t appear to understand words very well. It just kind of makes no sense she was raised to be a killer ,to be an assassin, but she doesn’t talk and has no life skills but yet is a teenager. She ends up seeking shelter in the Gotham public library where she meets Barbara Gordon and another lady of Asian dissent. The story goes on from there it’s a nice kick off to an old character’s new life. I’d like to see them take this character further and see how Cassandra Cain does as as batgirl.

You know a series is great when book 2 is better than book one and this series is so freaking awesome . We go back to more of the seven robots being destroyed. We also get to see a little bit of the character Astro boy (he’s actually called Atom, which is explained in the back). You could pick this up without having read book number one but number one makes it quite a bit better and gosh dang that I can’t wait for book 3 and four time to go put them on hold

This is a retelling of Alice in Wonderland. It is supposed to convey the history of a specific indigenous tribe but that story is so lost. There is so many indigenous words with no explanation within the story. luckily there’s a glossary in the back. You also have a little bit of the main character coming out or revealing their non-binary and I don’t get why that’s important to the story because it seems like it’s thrown in their as an extra thing rather than as an important function to the story. This book just feels all over the place it’s hard to understand, and hard to follow. The reader gets the feel of Alice in wonderland and its familiar looking glass, but I’m sorry this is a broken looking glass.

This story is a tad bit long. Leo is a lion his big brother roars loudly, his big sister roars for a long time, but Leo doesn’t roar at all, he listens. His listening has helped the family but his father still feels shame that Leo cannot roar. When a fire breaks out in the savanna it will take Leo’s roar to warn the Lions and the other families. Their roar comes loud and long. Overall the illustrations are better than the story. They are bright and colorful and it’s quite different from what you see in many picture books and for that alone I love this book.
Not a bad read. It is very reminiscent of the Numeroff books. It’s not a roundabout story at all, but with the way it is worded and the flow of the story very mouse/cookie like. The book is fun and quirky, and kids will like it.
