This book was amazing. Loujain has always wanted to see the sunflowers from her dad’s picture. But she is not allowed to fly. Flying is for males only. But by questioning and saying why can’t I fly, I would be a good flyer, let me fly, she convinces her dad or her Barba to let her wings take flight. The story is a tad bit long, however what makes it all worth it is the information on who inspired this book. Loujain Alhathloul a leader in the Saudi Women’s Rights movement. She went about driving when it was illegal for women to do so in her country. While still alive she has been restricted in what she can do because of both the law and her legal punishment. I think this woman needs her own real biography but until then, this wonderful story inspired her will have to do.

The path is about the path you take in life. It will not always be a smooth easy walk on the beach, sometimes it’ll be climbing over rocks and crossing rivers. At some point the path will diverge and you will have to choose a side. No matter what you choose it will be right because you make your own path. I absolutely love the artwork in this book. it is the best thing about it. I really enjoyed the story however it feels like it ends about five pages too soon.

This was a fun early graphic novel meant for those just beginning chapter books. Haley is child and Comet is a comet. Haylee’s best friend left her when he moved to another location a while ago and he’s coming back to visit. Comet is a little worried that Haley‘s new old friend might not like them and might get in the way of their friendship with Haley. But they all get along and have fabulous adventures together. The illustrations are bright and colorful and for someone just moving onto longer books and away from easy readers it would be a nice story that they’re sure to enjoy.

Originally I thought this title was a little off. However within the pages of this book the words flow in a lyrical way that’s a pleasure to read and a pleasure to see. An old fashioned mantra is I think I can, I think I can, I think I can. This book puts a spin on that mantra: I think I am, I see I am, I do I am. And it repeats it for various things like feelings, actions, and thoughts. This was a great read and a great new mantra for kids.

This book starts out with a very bored little badger. They try to do things they normally likes but they’re still bored. Then a friend comes over and they try to do things the friend likes but they are still bored. Then they are joined by more friends and eventually more friends yet nothing can hold their attention. Until they find out a friend has a boo-boo but this boo-boo leads to a Lot of fun for everyone. This book was adorable, if a bit long. The illustrations are the soft old-fashioned pencil drawing style that really work with the story. Overall this was a great read that would be checked out many times by many patrons

This is a super simple book. It’s being published as a picture book and a board book at the same time. It shows a very graphic style picture of a specific hairstyle, whether mustache, Afro, wavy, and even one I need to look up called kippah hair. It doesn’t matter your hairstyle the only thing that matters is that you are welcome here.

This is a weird book. I’m not 100% sure I can really tell you what it’s about. There are two women who live in a fantastical community where people are reborn as seeds to grow again. The book starts with an older woman passing on, returning to the land, and becoming a seed. That seed is taken out to the water, then comes back in a form of reincarnation. They have shapers and changers which are people with the type of magic that help the community. The librarian though has no magical ability. And this couple will see hardship as they have to separate after something drastic happens at the library. While separated Preet grows a seed into a child, a secret child. The two will eventually come back together and learn from each other and learn that sometimes the old ways are not always best. You have to make new ways in life. As I said this book is weird. It’s interesting and I think that’s the best thing I can say.

This is book 13 in the series and it still feels as fresh as book number one. Johnny boo and squiggles are on their way to school but don’t know what school is or what the point of it is. But they do know they need an apple on their head. What is school? What is 2+2? Is the ice cream monster still a monster, or what about the big mean boy? It’s nice to see how the characters age and don’t age and how the story moves forward while being a story for the earliest of graphic novel readers. Book was a lot of fun and I can’t wait for the next one.

When I look at this cover I thought it was going to be a kids or a middle grade graphic novel. But within the pages it seems more of an adult novel with adult scenarios played out by a cat. There’s nothing that really makes it adult compared to middle grade except it’s a type of comedy I don’t think kids will get. It very much reminds me of the Office. There’s even a part where the cats are paying attention to a TV show called the Days of Our Nine Lives. This book was not for me I DNF it halfway through and I’m not sure I’d add it to my library either I just don’t get it.

This is actually three books in one. It covers the first three novels of Enola Holmes and they transfer to graphic novel quite well. At first I wasn’t sure if I liked the artwork but it fits with the style and time period of the story. It’s bright and colorful like the character Enola herself, while still seeming mysterious and intriguing. This was a successful transfer so whether you’ve read the other Enola Holmes books or seen the Netflix movie, either way you’re sure to enjoy this take on the master detective Sherlock Holmes’s sister.
