This is a simple call and response book from a cow to other animals. This would be lots of fun at story time or with a big group of kids

A five star read. This book is both a picture book and a graphic novel. Do you remember Archimedes the owl from the animated Sword in the Stone? All that attitude but a kind heart, that’s what you get in this book. An old owl just wants to sit and read and sleep but the kids outside are driving him nuts. However, he discovers that what the kids like to do is actually fun and eventually gets in on the games and the laughter. Loved everything about this book, the artwork, the sentiment, the storyline.  This is perfect for all ages.

It’s not unusual for a little kid to want a dog. It’s not unusual for a dog to say no. It’s also not unusual for a family to adopt a cat. And it’s quite an quite usual for a cat to become a boy‘s best friend even if it’s not a doggy.

This book was all right. It feels like it wants to be Otis and it’s not. It’s also trying to make me feel guilty I haven’t mowed the yard and it’s raining. Little tractor is little and still needs to learn things and is a bit afraid of being outside when it rains. But when called on to save the day they’re going to be right there offering all the help one needs.

This simple book is a counting story about 10 mice that come together to raise a very special treat in the garden from seed to fruit.  The illustrations are interesting and eye catching.  I don’t think we’ll be around in 20 years but it’s pretty nice right now.

I like this but I also don’t like this. The beginning where it explains the dots and everybody having jeans is confusing. This part could be taken out of the book. When the story of all the kids and how they were like and how they’re different gets going,  that is when the story makes sense and is interesting. The illustrations are top notch and flow really well.

This was such a fun book. It’s a bit about the building of Luna Park which becomes Coney Island but it’s also about a little rabbit and a little girl. This little rabbit lost their sand dune home when the park was built. While the specific story of Millie and Celine is fake, the other part of the story about the park and the owners is all real. The artist even used pictures from the original Luna part to do the illustrations in this book. All around the stories wonderful, if a little long, but it is fantastically full of new and interesting information

This is an interesting.  Much like the Boy’s Town Press the reader is given an issue and a way to deal with it, which is been repeated by example at least three times. However, in this book there is this magic backpack concept with each book in the backpack reflecting a different emotion. I think concept is a hard to follow and the story is confusing because of it. The concept is great for an educational setting, but I think in general is does not work very well.

This book was way too long. It led to reading drifts. The illustrations are fantastic. So are the explanations in the beginning and the end of the book about different racing terms. I do not know if this is the first Dale Earnhardt Junior kids book but if it is, before he puts out a second one, his coach needs to work on pacing of a story.
sad slow-paced

This book was sweet but also a bit sad. I think it’s the pictures that help create that sadness. It’s about a bunny who is afraid of things around them and just wants to go to the moon and see the bunny. I did appreciate the prologue that tells you about the bunny moon since I’ve never heard of that. And it makes the story seem like a book of longings. Overall, I enjoyed it however it’s not one I would frequently pick to read.
