If you read a Pusheen book, then you read them all. They’re basic illustrations that you would find in all the Pusheen merchandise. It’s cute, but it’s quite redundant when you read it one page after another. Tt works much better as a daily thing. Overall, I like this but only for pushing enthusiast.

This graphic novel takes the idea of the classic Beowulf and turns it on its head. It’s children who like to play and be loud going up against the grouchy neighbor man, Mr. Grendel. What makes this book unique is that it keeps the vocalization of the classic epic. It’s very’ very’ very wordy. The words trip all over themselves. On reading it feels like a troubadour of old, trying to get the audience’s attention. Think of it like Geoffrey Chaucer in the movie, a Knights Tale (played by Paul Bettany), and how he would introduce Heath Ledger. That is the wording format of this book from page one to page end. Tt makes this book a tad hard to read and gives the reader a bit of a headache. But at the same time, it has a Monty Python and the Holy Grail feel if one can just get to the end of the story. Overall, I like this book, but I didn’t love it. I love the cover. The artwork is great, but I wish it was in full color. I could see this maybe winning awards but what I don’t see is it being read frequently by kids.
This was an almost automatic DNF. I did read the description telling me it was about a man writing about his life trying to become a film Director. The illustrations have a 70s feel to them which is when I believe this takes place, but right off the bat in the margins of the page you have porn illustrations. Then you have the characters in the bathroom having this conversation and just it was an immediate turn off for me. I have no desire to turn any more pages to read anything more of this book than the first page. Somebody will like it, just not me.

This was a very cute beginning reading, graphic novel. Pluto rocket is an alien who has come to earth find all the good things. They are on a secret mission and the first being they meet is Joe Pidge, who is a pigeon. Joe Pidge makes it his duty to show Pluto rocket all the best things there are, become best friends and have a fun adventure. Perfect for those moving from picture books into chapter books.

This is a very sweet and happy graphic novel. Wisteria is a new sprite to town and where she moved the gardens are already beautiful and lovely. There are nothing for sprites to do. Out exploring her new home, she finds the yard next-door that needs help. She also meets a gardener with a nice smile who doesn’t quite know how to garden. She helps bring the garden to life with only the magic that sprites can do, and ends up making new friends. She also brings the sprites and other garden loving people together. This is a sweet story with not a lot to it. The artwork is beautiful. Tt’s soft and flowery. It feels like watercolor while not feeling like water color. All together the book just works for anybody who likes sweet stories of Sprite.

This was a lovely and interesting story about a boy who worried about monsoon rains washing away the ground, and the animals that live there. He’s India’s Johnny Appleseed, because he started planting trees. But he didn’t plant one type of tree he planted different types of trees to help maintain the sandbars and the land as well as unintentionally growing a habitat for many diverse animals. This book told a story of a man who could be considered a type of hero that kids might not have learned about otherwise. My only qualms with this book, if I wish they had included a real picture of the man in the end, but other than that this is a perfect read.

I think in this book, a banana is a metaphor for a cell phone. The book starts with a little girl who loves her dad because he hangs out with her, plays with her, and it’s her everything. Until one day they get a banana. This banana starts off being a fun little thing, but then takes dad away from everything else until the little girl decides to eat the banana and take her dad back. This story is just weird. I think it could be fun for story time, but it really does seem like an allegory for a parent and a cell phone.

This is the third blue badger book. In the second blue badger, but badger ate all the berries and may have possibly ate the dogs ball. In this book badger meets another badger and they get a little funny feeling in their stomach. The badger who likes the red berries is not only very fond of berries but is very complementary to blue badger. Blue badger must seek out advice from his friend owl and makes a wonderful new companion to red badger. However, they both need to be reminded to not eat all the berries. Just like the first book this is adorable. I love both the badgers and the compliments, and it just makes you all warm and fuzzy, which is what the book was hoping for. So it works and I can’t wait to read the badgers next adventure.

This is a simple board book meant to illustrate simple concepts. In general, this would just be another of the same thing that comes out every year. However, the illustrations are so much fun. I would hang almost any of them on my wall. My personal favorite is the wet cat and the far pigeon, but the elephants are kind of cool too. This would be a book I’d gladly get for my little niece to chew on and eventually one day read and understand.

This is a continuation of the same wonderful board book series. Simple concept in this case shapes, animals to go with them, and amazing graphics that will have kids reaching for these board books over and over and over again.
