Weird Kid

I really wanted to like this.  The concept was interesting.  It is a bit reminiscent of the Superman origins: found as a baby with abilities they can not control.  The kid can shape shift and not being able to control it made for some interesting scenes, but I just kept feeling sorry for the main character.  And it took the enjoyment of this book away.  I DNFed at 44%

I was enjoying this.  I think it was just the time in my life that I was reading it.  I stepped away and my galley expired.  Will I give this another try.  Absolutely.  I liked it.  It was building into a sweet romance and I want to know how it ends.

The artist for the cover of this book did an amazing job.  That was the entire reason I wanted to read/listen to it.  RJ’s story just didn’t hold my attention.  He lives in a town full of gangs and violence and he has tried to stay out of it.  But he couldn’t.  The beginning was just too slow.  It felt that the story was going nowhere.  I DNFed at 18% and have no desire to try to read the print version.

The nephews choose this one for a car ride.  They opinion is that the movies are better.  This was too much build up for their minds.  Now this story was written for adults and not kids/teens, but we had high hopes.  I think they will like this better with a bit of age and life experience.  For no it was just too much.  DNFed at 10%

This is officially a DNF for me.  I lasted 4 hours. I think it’s because it's an audiobook.  I have restarted it twice and I like it while I’m in it, but once I walk away or take a break I can barely remember what happened.  The switching narrators and timelines didn’t help anything.  I liked the story line so i think that tells me to pick this up in print or digital and leave the audiobook for someone else.
