Dry in places but fantastic world building and excellent disability and queer rep. I look forward to reading the sequel.

Anyone looking for books that are high fantasy, has epic quests and strong female characters - you'll enjoy this.

Beautifully written, wonderful twists and turns and good character balance.

Interesting world and characters, I wanted a little more from both though. The story flows easily but I wanted just a smidge more from all the characters, a bit more depth and detail.

But overall, a really compelling story and I look forward to the sequel.

4.5 stars.

An excellent sequel filled with action and intrigue! Can't wait for the next installment!

3.5/4 stars.

An interesting story concept, I just found that I didn't feel any spark between the characters, there was little to no chemistry between them, which disappointed me. The storyline is good though and filled with twists and turns.

Compelling with twists and turns, I enjoyed the POV swapping between the past and the future. Perfect for those who love a good murder mystery that is from a civilians POV, rather than someone from police/medical.

Thought provoking, complex and compelling.

The main character annoyed me greatly half the time, but I believe that is a sign of good writing because she was meant to be annoying. There were times where I would have appreciated a little more back story to fill in key moments, but overall it was a really well written, complex, story from a 'villains' point of view.
