More of 3.5 stars actually.
The beginning sounded very promising but as I haven’t read the previous books in the series I found it a bit hard to make up who is who and especially to find out that one of the detectives was a woman as the name is more used for a male character.
I liked the story overall as I was intrigued to know what really happened with the child that disappeared and how everything will unfold but there are many points in the book that I had to stop because it was either too slow for my usual liking or there were too many things happening at the same time as well as too many characters/suspects to keep up with.
It’s still a good book and it won’t be my last read by the author.

This is one of those stories that will keep you up all night and have your pulse rushing like crazy.
I liked that even if the story it’s told in his point of view, he’s very reliable and down to earth, with emotions that are showing through the story and all his thoughts and remorse about his wife and children.
Imagine having to live with the uncertainty of not knowing what really happened when your son was killed and what comes after it’s definitely not a normal life or a life that you were used to.
There are many moments when I really thought “This is not going to end well, this is one of those stories where the main characters are killed”, but it turns out that I was wrong and the end story was very different. It’s a very graphic description of all the events and it makes me wonder if the author has taken some self defence training because there’s a lot of moments where I thought that everything was very well done in the research department.
It’s gripping, it’s terrifying and heartbreaking but most of all, it’s worth of your time and money more than I have expected.

New to me author and what a book to start with.
I loved the setting, the characters and the story overall. The author has created a movie serial for sure with this story and it was easy to follow, the events well described and with a fast-paced read, some unexpected twist and great writing that made it a memorable book.
I haven't read the first books in the series but i will now because the characters are very reliable and i want to know more of their story and thoughts.
Un unputable down book for sure.

A very steamy short story that i would have liked to read much more. It has so much potential if the story goes beyond the short description or fast forward pace. The characters are lovely and i am always up for a second chance at love, especially for those that missed theirs in college just to take upon their jobs or dreams and met after years more mature and ready to settle down.
I'll look for other stories by the author and really hope it will be a novel-length the next one.

The third book in the series, this is Emily’s story, the friend that is always there for her family, the one that decided to let go of her dreams just to be close to the ones she loves. Childhood friends that want to become more than that, have to go through a bit of growing up situations before they can realise that they’re meant to be together and find their happy for now at least.
Same great writing and characters from a favourite author.

It’s my second book by the author and I knew that I’ll be in for a big ride.
I love that the story is more contemporary and deals with second chance at love for two characters with a different past but are looking forward to make the most of their life and fulfil that empty space in their hearts that needs more attention than anything else.
I loved their banter, their intimate moments were great and the feelings and emotions were real and somehow, the author managed to touch my heart at so many levels with this story.
I can’t recommend it enough.

A short, fast-paced read, with nice characters and a sweet romance between a single dad and a woman who wants to carry on with her life but doesn't want to go through a heartbreaking moment again. It's a well-written story and Max's daughter was a great addition to the story.
I enjoyed it as a fun and easy read but not so memorable for me, unfortunately.
