This story was definitely something very different from what I was expecting. Nothing is at it seems and nothing will happen as you may think, at least the final chapters for sure.
It's told in short chapters from then and now in Poppy's life, it has a very good pace and interesting characters.
Yes, it's a bit predictable and maybe steamy for the first half but it's so much more in the second half of the book.
Everyone has a secret or more than one , and are not always ready or willing to share them. But step by step they are revealed and it really shows how one truth can hurt.
Give it a try and maybe you'll like it as much as I did

What an interesting read and story overall!
I want to think that this will be made a tv show/ series if it's not already as I have read it somewhere but can't certify if It’s true or not.We all know the story and so many twists and turns that Kennedy's assassination went through and all the conspiracies theories about it as well. This story is based on one of them and it goes for a long period of time as much as 30 years.
In these years there are so many things happening in the professional and personal life of the main characters and we can see how they grew and changed.
It's a fast-paced read through and keeps you engaged in the story, it has small clues and twists but it all adds for the big scene at the end.

A lovely story with interesting characters, a bit of angst and suspense and twists that overall will make a great love story that overcomes past mistakes and hard decisions to take so they can find a way to be happy and in love.

Younger man older woman? Bodyguard and his lifetime crush? Bring it in!
Sybil has a way with her words and this world that she created. Andre Luna is one of the best employers that I’ve ever read and the guys are always hot and seem untouchable but Sybil always shows us their other side, the side that it’s only for the loved ones, when they can be free and human and express their true feelings to the woman that brings them down to their knees. It’s not always easy and there’s always suspense and angsty moments as well as very steamy ones, but love will always win over.

Well, that was unexpected for sure. I enjoyed it although I felt like it’s a bit short and maybe I wanted more of this story. I really hope the author will write more suspense books as this one was great.

This book is a far away step from what we’re used to by the author. It has everything you want and everything you won’t expect.

There’s a lot of lies, there’s more angst than you can imagine as well as secrets to be unveiled and decisions to be taken.

Its drama just for the sake of drama like some people are saying? I don’t think so because in real life this can happen and I got the impression that communication it’s the best way to solve problems but again people are mending between them and everything goes south.

“All is fair in love and war, and I’m certainly prepared for battle.”

He wants revenge but when he finds out that she has no idea what really happened, he tries to show her who he really is and that he’s feelings for her are still there but there’s a lot that changed in these 8 years that passed away and there’s a secret that he still doesn’t know how to come out clean about it.

“Some people raise you up, and some people pull you down. And Rory? She pulls me in every possible direction and angle, leaving me tattered.”

There’s a mention of one character that I wanted more but didn’t get it and I’m disappointed but there’s always another story to come.

This is literally the best m/m book that I’ve ever read!

So much angst and heartbreak for both characters, so many twists and decisions to take, so many steamy moments that made me look out for my husband, so much love!
My heart was pushed to its limits with Max and Silas story.
Again, the author has touched difficult topics and brought more awareness about them. Addiction if any kind, how some families look the other way if their child is not what they expect to be and what rehab and the struggles to become a better you mean for the person that lives it.
Love it and can’t recommend it enough!

The third book in the series and what a surprise to read about the town where I live!
It’s a story with more angst than others by the author, there’s a beautiful friendship that comes apart because life pushes you to achieve other dreams but what you left behind it’s not always known.
There’s a secret discovered and a love that grows step by step as the author takes us to the path of learning how to overcome the list of first love and the decisions to make for a better future next to the person who changes their lives for you now.
I personally don’t agree with a big twist in the story but overall it’s a good book and will recommend it nevertheless.

I can’t really say if I liked or not this story.
What I definitely enjoyed is the writing style, it’s very good and I was more than 50% in the story when I stopped the first time as I just didn’t realise how good it was.
As for the story itself, it’s a book that is and definitely will be talked a lot because of its topic. It’s not for everyone and can cause triggers and also there’s a lot of opinions that will come out.
I had to stop reading at times to process what was really going on. The author has a great way to show you what Vanessa feels and to get into her mind. She’s definitely not a young girl/woman that doesn’t know what she wants from her life and in a way her story it’s very reliable with real-life people.
The parents lack of support, her mother’s way to approach mother-daughter bound is almost non-existent, and maybe, that’s why some will think that Vanessa was looking for affection in other places, like in people who gave her attention, in this case, her older teacher.
Even years later, after she finds out that he was planning to protect himself with a laid out plan and she and her parents had to move out because one of her friends spoke up, she’s still drawn to him and it’s heartbreaking to see how she’s coping with everything.
As I said, not sure what or how I feel about this story but I did enjoy it as a must-read controversial topic and book.

A second chance at love for two first love characters after almost 30 years living apart and building a new life.
At 18 they fall in love and as the first love never forgets, their unique bound was a mixtape with songs that were showing their feelings more than saying them.
Years after their breakup, there's a chance to reunite and again music and old songs link them and reignite that lost spark of love.
The romance element is very well done in the book and the writing is what kept me reading without stopping. Unfortunately, overall, the story lacked for me in many departments. Not sure if the characters or the overall story, the fact that they were both married with children and always thinking what if ... but i can't get over some of my beliefs and accept them in this story especially as this isn't the kind of story where their marriage is falling apart or they are about to divorce.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for my review copy.
