A great addition to the Cross series by the most known author in the world for mystery thrillers stories.
I absolutely loved this book and once I started reading I just couldn’t put it down. It’s a fast-paced read, no time to take a break or breath out as the situations and mysteries are on a roll and unstoppable.
There are turns and twists so that you can see coming but many that are very unpredictable and that’s what makes this story so good in my opinion. There are new characters in sight as old ones, and I loved especially the connection with the kid and how it shows that the job it’s sometimes our life but we have feelings and doubts about everything else in life as well.
I hope we’ll get to see all of these stories in a movie like this one i, in particular, gave me a lot of The Mentalist vibes.
Read it and you won’t be disappointed.

A new to me author and such a great read.
I love how the author has mixed the murder/mystery with the romance. There aren't many books like this that I've read and really enjoyed it. The characters are great and flawed as well as a perfect mix because as a single mom who's been through so many dark moments in her life, she only wants to be safe and be happy with her little daughter. But the darker side of the world doesn't leave her alone and there are twists and turns, some predictable, some not so, some moments will keep you guessing and some will fulfil your heart.
Loved it and would recommend it to all my bookish friends.

To my shame, it's the first book that I've read by the author but won't be the last now that I've discovered her.
I loved the story and the characters are so great together, with flaws and reliable. Their inner thoughts and feelings were very well transcripted into the book and i just couldn't put my kindle down because i wanted to see how everything will unfold and what they have to go through to find that happy place and recognise their true feelings for each other.
Looking forward to more stories by the author.

An epic story indeed. I couldn't stop reading this book as it's so good and the author has built a great interesting story that kept me reading it in a few hours. I loved the time period and the love story , all the turns and secrets that kept coming with each page turned.There are parts that I couldn’t get through as some repetition of the scenes but I just had to keep reading.

I finally had a chance to read one of the author’s books as I have her on my TBR list for a while now.
This story is the fifth in the series but I think it can be easily read as a stand-alone.
I loved the idea of a single mother by choice and how she found love in an unexpected way. All the ups and downs that a couple are going through when these situations are coming in their way, are very real and it made for a great story.
Looking forward to more books by the author.

It’s my first book by the author and although I enjoyed it, there are many things I couldn’t get into it as much as I wanted.
I love a psychological thrillers any time before anything else but this one was so predictable and the writing gave me pause at times.
I still finished it because I rarely do not finish a book but I’m still unsure about my feelings and whether I should recommend it to my bookish friends or not.

When you go on blind for a book that you don’t even read the blurb ( but you’re going for it because your love for the author’s stories has no limits) you never know what to expect. I wanted to read Florence’s story from the minute I’ve finished Mamie’s book.
The haven of vice and sin will always hold a mystery for anyone, but for someone who wants to know everything about it, could be a dangerous place. A place where the players will have to gamble away they hateful and revengeful feelings for a chance at love. Always take the risk ladies as you can never know what fate has prepared for you.

This book it’s just epic. There are so many twists and turns, so much angst and suspense, so much love to be shared, stolen moments and memorable ones. Love this characters and their story. Read it now!
