A new to me author and a first book is always exiting to read for me especially when I have no idea what to expect and I mostly go in blind.
I’m happy that I did choose this thriller because it was so worth it.
From the first chapter to the last, I was invested in this story and wanted to know more and especially why Max has disappeared.
So many secrets to unveil with each chapter and so many twists and turns that some were predictable and some very unexpected.
A great read for the suspense lovers.

I love a grumpy hero every day at any hour of the day. This book was such a fresh breeze for my moods lately.
I loved the perfect mixture between two beautiful souls with a hard past and a great future.
As it’s not my first book by the author, I already knew I’ll get all the feels, heartbreaking and heartwarming moments.
Full of angst, great character development and a banter that had me laugh out loud so much, this story is the perfect way to spend your after work hours and fill your heart with a romantic love story worth of all your time and attention.

Love me some great eighteen heroine with a mind of her own even if she's a virgin and very inexperienced in life but is willing to make something out of her life.
To make a better life and escape the one that she's living now, Alexandra has made an awful decision that will leave her to meet her next boss Erik.
This age gap romance is a perfect match for two very different characters that come from different words but start towards a slow burn romance with being friends and trying to know each other first and also to resist the pull to each other and the desire for more even if all these thoughts will make them regret or think twice about their actions in the morning after.
I wanted to shout at Erik for being such a douche so many times and also to cheer for any small step they took towards their relation, but at times, even if the chemistry and desire was there i didn't feel it like that,it was more of a just friends that care for each other and will try to keep the other safe. That being said, this book was still a great read and can't wait to read the next one as the epilogue left me mouth opened.

There are books that you find easy to read, predictable and maybe even boring but there are also stories that keep you on the edge throughout the novel and you want to read more with each chapter.
I enjoyed this suspenseful story quite a bit. It’s fast paced and I found the characters well depicted. The ending had me shocked though because even if the author managed to lead us to a great ending, I haven’t seen that coming my way at all and that twist definitely made my reading more enjoyable and the stars rating went up in seconds.
Many thanks to the publisher HQ for my review copy.

Damn it Willow, why do you have to play with my heart like that?
This is one of the best suspenseful books that I’ve read this year and I’m so frustrated for having to wait for the next books

For as much as i love Alex Cross series and discovering a new to me author in J D Barker, this writing duet was a rollercoaster of emotions and twists and turns.
I enjoyed the subplot and how the "family" bond was portraited between Michael and Megan, how their tremendous childhood changed them and everything they had to endure and go through just because the adoptive family found them the perfect candidates for their researches. In a way it's just unthinkable but at the same time very believable,as you can never get to really know what happens behind closed doors in any household.
So many murders and suspects, so many questions and what ifs, all adding up for a good suspenseful story.
I have to say though , i just couldn't wrap my head around the short chapters and the different pov that we get with all the then and now events and that's why the lower star rating.
many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my review copy.

A great debut novel with a story full of fiction and reality moments. This book wasn't what i was expecting at all and i am not disappointed at all by the characters or events.
It reads out much more like a contemporary novel, in my opinion, it doesn't have at all that historical poetic veil and the heroine is sassy and determined, very opinionated and proves in many occasions what a strong heroine and character she is, facts that i absolutely loved. She spends no time wasting when she wants something and goes for it.
With all the spies and suspenseful events, i read it more like a romance or at least the subplot is way heavier in the romance department and probably that's part of me enjoying this book so much.

There’s no escape from this addictive dominant and out of the charts steaminess couple!
If you thought that Holly and Elijah were pure fire in Rough Diamond, Gold Mine is even more suspenseful, edgy and steamy dark romance!
So many new secrets and heart beating moments, so many lies and truths to be said, all wrapped up in a beautiful love story that hasn’t found its happily ever after yet because there are still questions to be answered and loose ends to be knotted.
If you love dark romance with a suspenseful story that will make you want more and more with each chapter, then this trilogy is definitely for you.
