Adored this book. I love historical fiction and to get that with a strong female midwife character and a murder mystery checked my boxes. 

I do not understand what people love about this book. I found the writing difficult to follow, the story unnecessarily uncomplicated and the ending unsatisfying. 

I just wanted to read a fast paced mystery/thriller and what I got was a tediously paced pseudo-spy novel where everything happens but also nothing really happens …. 

My main takeaway is that three lines would be a lovely place to spend a weekend / who TF is Ruth and the duck and why were they mentioned so often with no context?!! 

I loved this book. It was so fun to read. Just a delight and so refreshing to find a book that is fantasy but not the same exact magic centric fantasy that I usually read. I highly recommend this book and will read more by the Author. 

Easy, light hearted read. Not for me but I get why folks would devour the entire series. 

Loved this book, maybe more than silent patient even. It was a very fast read and while the ending made me question the inclusion of some of the plot lines/characters I still found it to be a super satisfying read and would recommend it. 

Having read the first 3 books in this series, I might say this book is my favorite. I’m attached to these characters. Love to watch them solve murders and love to see how much their bonds have grown over 4 books. 

I pre ordered this book after reading Arsenic & Adobo which was adorable. Unfortunately I didn’t feel the same about this book. 

The writing felt forced like the author was trying to do the most with every character. Or maybe got a bonus for every time she could use the word corn… It took me out of the moment and the mystery.
