2.5.
Sigh... I just don't think this was for me. I was really into the story line, but found myself getting confused and disorientated with all the time hops and formatting. I think I will continue this via the series.

I forgot how much I adore this world and these characters. Relisten has bumped this from a 4 to a 5.

I think I need to read a physical copy of this one. While the narrator was engaging and pleasant to listen to, I think too much detail and nuance went over my head due to the way I consumed this novella. Planning a reread in the near future.

4.5/5
Normally magical realism and I are not the best of friends, however... This has proven to be the exception to the rule. I am completely shattered. The writing is as exquisite as the book is heartbreaking.

I need to write a review of this, but not today. And probably not tomorrow. But one day.

God lord this was just adorable. Although I can not speak to the cultural representation within the book, my heart is bursting from the relationships - familiar, friendship and romantic. Messy, complicated, we developed and layered, just hit me right in the feels. I also love that story lines that could have (and TBH, straddled) slipped into mild slut shaming made a point of pulling back and taking another path.
I really look forward to picking up anything else that Chao puts out!

THAT CLIFFHANGER, YA'LL!!

These are s uch powerful, important stories. I am so glad Union shared her experiences with the world.
Ya'll, don't sleep on this.
