"Beauty was boring. To be ugly was to be particular, memorable, unforgettable even."

Simplistic prose, with a line or two in each story that cuts you to the core. My favourites were Slingshot, Chick-A-Chee, The Universe Would Be So Cruel, and of course the title story, How To Pronounce Knife.

I wish I hadn’t read this. It adds nothing to the world of Gilead and answers questions that were more interesting and provocative when left unanswered. Two stars for all the parts with Aunt Lydia, she could have been the whole book.
