This book is not perfect, but it's perfect to me! In all seriousness, I ended very pleasantly surprised by how engrossed I became in this story. I was able to understand the main character's motivations perfectly, even when I disagreed with her actions and I remained rooting for her all throughout the book. Every character we meet feels fully fleshed out without making the story feel crowded. Even the hate crime subplot (which isn't something I prefer to read about in a romance) felt so well integrated into the plot that I couldn't fault the author for including it. I do wish we could have gotten to see more of the couple after they had gotten together.

This book successfully held my attention even through all the math equation explanations, which is saying a lot coming from a self-proclaimed math hater. The major theme in this story is memory and how your relationships and sense of self can be maintained even as you lose your memory. Overall it was a compelling and poignant read.

I'm just so relieved that I enjoyed reading this after Mills' last book was such a disappointment for me. However, this wasn't necessarily my new favorite, as I felt the middle dragged a bit, the motivation of the "villain" felt convoluted and the interpersonal relationships felt glossed over at times, when I would have liked for that to have more of a focus.

I was intrigued by the idea of a science fiction/dystopian take on Shakespeare's The Tempest, but outside of the premise the plot is very basic.

There wasn't anything necessarily I hated about this book, but I was never really invested. Overall just a okay reading experience.
