As someone who doesn't read a lot of adult thrillers, I do feel like this had a solid narrative. I think I enjoyed reading about the main character's past than what was happening in her present day. Definitely would be interested in reading more from this author.

I think the phrase "breath of fresh air" really fits this book so well. While reading the story I kept thinking about how fun it was- not just that plot was interesting but the reading experience itself was so enjoyable. I would definitely recommend the audiobook if possible, because the narrator did a really great job in my opinion and really sold the narration style and the book's brand of humor for me.

If you want a low fantasy story with a melancholic undertone, you might enjoy this book. This book was published in 2021, so I imagine the parallel between COVID-19 and the disease described in this story was very much intentional. It was interesting to read how the lore of dragons were interwoven into an otherwise modern story.

Agony is probably my favorite character that Aveda Vice has written.

Every time I read an book or novella in this series I like it more than I think I will, but I know I would enjoy them more if I read each installment closer to the last one I read. However, I've never gotten to the level of investment in the characters or the plot where I would actually follow through with that idea.

After getting a glimpse of Chopper in the last omnibus volume, we finally get a proper introduction and backstory of his character. The backstory was heart-wrenching, and overall I think this has been the strongest installment of the series so far. Excited to see introduction of Ace, and curious to see how the Baroque Works/Alabasta story arc wraps up.

I added this to my to-read shelf so long ago that by the time I actually started reading this I was afraid that too much time had passed and I would no longer be really interested in this type of story. I was right, but also wrong. While this was nothing groundbreaking, it went by really quickly and was a fun read. The plot started to get a little convoluted by the end, but the story resolved right as it was getting to that point so I wasn't really mad about it. I probably would have liked the story more if I had read it earlier, but I still enjoyed it for what it was.
