If Mare wasn’t such an idiot, this book would have been a whole lot better. The powers and the system (you know, the blood thing), the whole concept of the book could have turned out so well if not for unnecessary romance and naivety.

I was really liking the book and how Alex was taking pictures of things and her speculations on what was real and what wasn’t. Basically, how she had found coping mechanisms for her schizophrenia. I also liked the way she dealt with Miles when he was being a jerk.

However, towards the end there was too much happening. I think that the events in the book should’ve been a bit more evenly spaced out, instead of having everything happen right at the end. Also, towards the end, Alex wasn’t doing any of the things that helped her at the start? Or at least it wasn’t described anymore.

The romance was very sweet but honestly felt a bit rushed. I’m talking about how just after their kiss at the lobster tank, Alex invited him right away to come home with him. It just really felt a bit rushed, however, they did end up not doing anything that night. I did like how being with Miles made Alex less delusional.

I liked the side characters a lot and I think they were quite well developed, however, there was the thing about Theo’s mom making her take all those AP classes AND got to the club AND have a job. I don’t think that that is normal(?). But I don’t know.

I just found out that the representation of schizophrenia isn’t quite accurate, so there’s that.

I was actually really scared that this book would turn out to be just like ‘Everything, Everything’, which I absolutely hated even though the cover was really pretty. And it kinda did.
