Oh my god, there's actual communication skills. There's no conflict caused by misunderstandings!

I spontaneously decided to read this. Mostly because it was on top of my tbr on goodreads. Unfortunately, it wasn't enemies to lovers, but whatever, the book was still quite good. I just didn't like the characters. And the characters are the most important part of a book for me. But I think that all of the plot points were handled well. (Remember how I said it was going to get easier to write when I had a no-five-star book? I was wrong. I admit my mistake.) I avoided reading this book while I was reading it -- for absolutely no discernible reason -- so it got stretched out over a week and I don't remember anything except that there was a douchey character called Cole. Or maybe Colin. His name started with a 'c' and he was a self serving jerk, but he wasn't homophobic.)

It was okay. It read like fanfic and became slightly bizarre towards the end but it was very nice and fluffy for like 90% of the book.

...

Ok, so, now that I'm thinking back (because I wrote my initial reaction around midnight so I was tired) I'm starting to remember that there were quite a lot of writing mistakes that really annoyed me, which was why I treated it like I was reading fanfic because those were the types of mistakes I saw. I'm also confused about Ansel because at the start of the book we were told he was specifically gay but by the end he started dating a girl? Maybe it was just a mistake in my copy, I don't know.

I reread this book, spontaneously, because I didn’t know where to shelve it. Yes, I know.

All I can say is that it was quite a lot worse than I remembered because I remembered it as a literary masterpiece. I was very easily impressed two years ago. But the book was good, I still like it. I’m just a bit upset it didn’t live up to my expectations.

This book was very boring. Where was the saying no to the bro part? The answer is nowhere. And the high school equivalent of the hunger games hadn’t been explored to its full potential — but that would’ve made the book longer and we don’t want that. The characters had also been bland and flavorless.

If you ignore most of Anthony's personality this book suddenly becomes so much better.
