Listen, Alexis Hall is brilliant, generally. Writes very down to earth books. Sometimes, however, there is this issue of the books in question being insanely long winded, which is what happened in A Lady For A Duke and also here. It felt as though a lot of it could have been condensed to some extent.

Paris is difficult. He isn't exactly an easy character to follow -- if you've never experienced his level of anxiety he will drive you absolutely nuts. He is also incredibly stubborn and really frustrating to read because of that.

I did, however, appreciate the representation of his mental health journey. Hall made his jumps in logic easy to understand.

Tariq -- honestly, I would have rather the perspectives been switched. He was great; complex and interesting and he, for one, had many different relationship dynamics in his life.

The baking show element was fun, it was integrated well into the story but wasn't the focus of it. I liked all of the characters that were involved in it.

Overall, it was an okay book, great mental health rep.

Valentina was a brilliant character to follow, perfectly imperfect. Her flaws were clear to the readers but so where the reasons for those flaws. Her relationships with her family were complex and intricately multi-layered; it was wonderful to see Vale grow and change through out the course of the book.

Leticia is just...I really like Leticia. I really enjoyed the fact that we got to know her slowly and that our perception of her changed in time with Vale's. Their dynamic was well developed and highly enjoyable. The side characters were developed just enough to not be flat but to not consume the story and instead add to it.

The grief and expectations themes were very well fleshed out. The writing was great too (sorry, I'm running out of words. I really liked this book.)

The plot was not inventive but, my god, was it fun. Honestly, I don't really know what else to say.

Overall, really good book! You should read it.

To be fair, the tagline isn't wrong -- it was unputdownable. That, however, does not mean it was good.

Listen, I understand that the entire point of the book is about tackling internalised queerphobia. I am aware. That does not mean that it makes Luna's quest to lose her virginity any less ridiculous. You are telling me that a girl who supposedly lives in this day and age has to ask her friend how gay sex works? It just doesn't make sense.

Luna was okay, her journey throughout the book was interesting to see when she wasn't being irritating. Luna's lack of motivation to perhaps, I don't know, do more research was annoying to me. It did feel like she was being purposefully dense to what people around her where trying to say as for the sake of plot progression, but she was fine.

The side characters were great, actually. I liked them. They were more interesting as a whole and I often found myself looking forward to scenes where they'd appear. Greenwald builds them up through small remarks about their habits that I greatly enjoyed. I particularly loved Romy.

The romances here were well written too. I found myself invested in how things would turn out between the various people involved. The portrayal of Luna's feelings for them was also touching.

My favourite elements of this book were all of the aspects of the film industry. It was fascinating to read about and I highly enjoyed Luna's in depth knowledge of movies.

Overall, a pretty good book. Luna's ridiculousness is quite tolerable and the plot is well written.
