I really enjoyed this holiday black romance. I dont usually read holiday books so this was a treat for bookclub. I did not like the word cat and some slang in reference but that's a personal preference.

I have officially read the book then watched the movie for the first time. It is so weird to do one right after the other because I see all the missing parts. But I am so grateful I finally did. I was going to college when this came out and at the time I was still hetero. I cried at the end of this books. The movie I teared up at some moments. I will be reading book 2 and hopefully in the future finish the simonverse. Gonna check out love victor soon too.
Its hard to read books from cis hetero men perspectives when it comes to what is and is not cheating ...

Amor amor amor this book. I am not much for French or European culture. But the black & non white queer lense helped a lot. I found myself rolling my eyes and laughing at whitney. Loving Thierry. Choclate football and good food is my cup of tea. Not sure if I will ever visit France as I have heard mixed reviews but this is a good encouragement for a black woman.

5/5 peppers 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶. It did it for me. A lot of kinks that aren't my jam but reading it kept my attention and gave me the feelings.

This book has it all. Lots of misogyny. Murder of merpeople and humans. Environmental sea knowledge and activism. Merman and human woman sex. I took longer than intended to read because of life but towards the end I was talking to the story like why is this even happening. I enjoyed the story but truly have no idea what book two could be about. There seems to be not enough grief or at least its hard to feel it in the story the way things just keep moving forward but I guess that realistic like with covid palestine and every disaster around the world.
